We’re the church.

Beneath One Roof is a movement of people who follow Jesus, not a brand.

It has no members, no headquarters, no non-profit status, no budget, no income, and no expenses.

We’re people who look at the world and see that darkness covers the globe. We know that a tsunami of global change is coming. We see that it has already started—the sea is receding—and we know that the church must change to make disciples who wholeheartedly and faithfully follow Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20). We wonder why others don’t see these things.

We’re clusters of Christians, networks of networks organically linked together, often meeting informally in homes and public spaces. We engage Scripture together, encountering God through His Word by His Spirit in an environment of authentic Christian love. Then we multiply. It’s in our DNA.

We’re not doing church in a new way: we’re being the church in an old, first-century way.

What do we mean when we say "church"?

It sounds like a simple question, but ask a hundred people and you’ll probably get a hundred different answers. We need a shared, workable, and biblical definition. The church is the people of Jesus’ kingdom who are out of place, out of phase, and out of time. Unpack this definition and its implications in the full article linked below.

What makes real church, real?

We often confuse the gathering of Jesus’ followers with the organized congregations they frequently create. Or the buildings. We think we go to church but forget we are the church.

What is a "congregation"?

A church congregation is a local expression of God’s manifest presence in the one true church:

(1) at a particular place,

(2) among particular people, and

(3) for a particular time—all for God’s particular purpose.
